Stamps were first issued in Australia in 1902. The Circulation of the first Kangaroo was controversial as it was lampooned at the time for being a weak example of Australian culture and created great divides within the relatively new independent federation of Australia.

Like a country’s history, our lives are constantly evolving, always moving forward. The Kangaroo is part of the code of arms symbol in Australia which has been claimed in as a symbol for the country to move forward. 

This beautiful piece was painted with Acrylics and mixed with hand sew original Australian stamps carefully handpicked by Melissa from her extensive stamp collection.
